Matthew's Jeep

Hey Guys! This post is all about Matthew's Jeep! I got so lucky when I stumbled across a friend's post on FB about selling a Jeep Power Wheels. It was only $75, which is a huge steal! As soon as I saw it, I snatched it up. It sat at JP's house for several months waiting on us to decide what to do with it. This is what the Jeep looked like when we started.

For some reason, I forgot to take pictures until we had already started taking out parts to paint them. Oops. But, the seat and dashboard were all tan just like the steering wheel. This thing was also super dirty! I guess it had sat in her storage for quite a while. We started out by removing all the pieces that we could that would need painting. Then wiped the whole thing clean.

The next step was painting. We painted several things on here: the seat, the dashboard, the back bumper, the steering wheel and the steps on the sides. We started off by taping everything that we couldn't take off of the Jeep and removing the things we could. Then I scratched the surface of all of the pieces we were painting and JP sprayed them down with adhesion promoter. Last step was painting them all with a silver grey paint and letting them dry.

Then, we added working lights. This was so easy! We found these lights at dollar tree and they happened to fit perfectly in the front light spot. They are pretty darn bright too! Then we went to Walmart and bought red tail light tape and added it to two of the lights to make the tail lights. The lights come with an adhesive on the back already and once we attached them, they were still easy to pull the front part off and swap the batteries out.

Lastly, we added some personal touches. We had to have a license plate with Matthew's name on it of course! And then we added several decals from Jeep companies that we love. The last thing I did was add "Lil Mudbucket" to it.

So there you have it! It really took us only a few hours to make the changes to this Jeep, but it was totally worth it and Matthew was so excited when he got it on his birthday.

Matthew's 4th Birthday!

I can't believe my baby is 4! I'm not sure how this happened. We started out his birthday like we do every year. Birthday pancakes!

He got to blow the candle out and everything.

This is my favorite time of his birthday every year. It is our time to celebrate his birthday together. Just us.

I didn't get a ton of pictures from the party because my batteries on my camera died. My amazing friend Sarah luckily had her camera with her so she took a bunch of pictures. I don't have those pictures yet, but I wanted to go ahead and share the ones I do have.

These were the treat bags that we gave to the kids. They had candy, wheel shaped yo yo's and pencils in them. I decorated the table with one of Boo's large Jeeps on rocks, then tied balloons to it.

This was the game we played. We just took three tires that JP had, tied balloons to them and we tossed bouncy balls in them. It was super hard!

I make a birthday banner for him every year. This year I did tire shaped papers with his pictures on them.

We named our veggie tray (with hummus) The Forest.

Chocolate covered pretzel rods were called dipsticks.

Cheetos were called sticks.

We had a chocolate fountain (with lots of goodies to dip in it) that we called a mudslide!

We parked the Jeep out front so everyone would see our house and tied balloons to it.

My mom made the cake (with a little bit of help from me). It was AMAZING and looked way better in person than it does in this picture.

We had such an amazing time and the party came out perfect. We are so thankful that every one that came out.

We love this boy oh so very much. Can't believe he is 4!

Planning a Jeep Birthday Party

Jeeps are very important in our little family. JP and I both love them and it was just natural that Boo loves them too. So when it came time to pick a party theme for Boo's 4th birthday, it was an easy choice. He gets so excited when he gets to tell people that he is having a Jeep birthday party.

The problem with having a Jeep birthday party is that no one else has Jeep parties! And if they do, they are usually jungle theme with a Jeep included or Army theme. We didn't want to go with either of those, we wanted a straight up Jeep theme.

I knew once I couldn't find anything for a Jeep theme specifically that the best shot for finding any ideas was going to be to search for Monster Truck parties. That did the trick. There are a ton of ideas for Monster Truck parties!

Pinterest was of course my go to source for the majority of the party ideas. Here are some of my favorites:

I love this cake but of course with Jeeps on it :)

Thinking about drawing a big Jeep on a poster board and playing a game similar to this!

Wanting to do something similar to this. Except I am thinking about putting rocks all down the center of the table and putting the Jeeps on them, then adding the balloons.

I make Matthew a birthday shirt every year. I thought this would be a good idea for this years, but with a few changes of course. :)

I really want to play a game like this! I am just having trouble finding old cars to take apart.

And I am always really big on making the food and drinks themed too. This is just one of many ideas I have to do that. :)

So there you go, those are some of my most favorite ideas that I have found. I have several other ideas as well. And if you are curious, our color scheme for the party is neon colors. :)
